Peter Ratcliffe Legends In Time

PETER RATCLIFFE LEGENDS IN TIME was established in 1988 by designer, entrepreneur, and motorsport enthusiast Peter Ratcliffe. Originally a signed prints business, Ratcliffe was the first to introduce signed Formula One collectibles to the market and has worked with drivers like Juan Manuel Fangio, Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, and Michael Schumacher. Ratcliffe has also owned the ex-Ayrton Senna JPS Lotus, which he has done demonstration runs with at Goodwood, Brands Hatch, and Donington Park.

Friendship with Sir Stirling Moss

Ratcliffe was a close friend of Sir Stirling Moss, who was among the first drivers he approached in 1989 at the start of his company. He had shelved his business in part to help care for Moss during his final years. After Moss’s death, Ratcliffe reopened his watch brand in 2021 with a focus on designing and manufacturing Swiss watches.

Stirling Moss Editions

Peter Ratcliffe designed and produced the world’s first ever hand-signed timepieces with the Stirling Moss Collection. Inspired by a conversation with Moss in 2009, Ratcliffe proposed creating a timepiece to celebrate the British driver’s 80th birthday and proceeded to travel through Europe to assemble a team. The result was the Moss 80 that came in black and white, which released in October of 2011. Several more Stirling Moss edition watches followed, including the Moss Monaco 1961 that was launched in March of 2012 to commemorate the famous Formula One race win. Both models have since been sold out. Other timepieces pay tribute to Moss’s non-F1 racing achievements at the Mille Miglia, RAC Tourist Trophy, and Le Mans. All feature a piece of the British driver’s last driving suit, and powered by a Valjoux 7750 movement. Each watch is protected with a two-year guarantee and shipped with three straps, spring bar tool, leather case, and an owners numbered manual.

Giacomo Agostini

Upon resuming operations in 2021, Ratcliffe worked with eight time 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion Giacomo Agostini to create the Agostini 15. Limited to only 150 pieces, the watch commemorates Agostini’s 15 world titles across all Grand Prix classes contested.

Emerson Fittipaldi

Ratcliffe has also worked with two-time Formula One World Champion Emerson Fittipaldi. The Fittipaldi 72 was created, but the project was ultimately cancelled.
