Cadola was originally founded in Neuchâtel during the 1940’s, and at some point ceased operations. Today they are owned by Dartmouth Brands, which is also the parent company of brands such as AVI-8 and Spinnaker. Cadola currently has a focus on historical motorsport timekeeping, with watches powered by Japanese or Swiss movements.
Cadola x Cosworth
Cadola currently has a partnership with Cosworth. The British automotive engineering company celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2023, with a total of 10 constructors’ titles and 13 drivers’ titles as a Formula One engine supplier. In F1, Cosworth most recently powered the Marussia MR02 in 2013. The first Cadola Cosworth timepiece was announced on the Cosworth Instagram account on December 21, 2022, although there was a slightly earlier mention by the AutoShop HK YouTube channel from November of 2022.
The Cadola x Cosworth collection includes the DFV-Cosworth series that shipped with a helmet watch winder. The models from this line have been named after first names that will sound familiar to Formula One fans such as Alain, Ayrton, Emerson, James, Michael, Mika, Nigel, Niki, and Phil. The partnership has also yielded several quartz-powered Costin timepieces, which included time-only, chronograph, and dual-time chronograph models.
Surtees
While it’s unclear if there is an official partnership involved, Cadola also has a model named after former 500cc and Formula One world champion John Surtees. The Surtees line of meca-quartz chronographs come in different strap and dial color combinations which include graphite black, grid green, deep blue, hazard yellow, and diablo red.
