Nico Erik Rosberg (born June 27, 1985) is the 2016 Formula One World Champion and the son of 1982 Formula One World Champion Keke Rosberg, becoming just the second ever father-son pairing to have won F1 Driver’s Championships.
F1 Career
Rosberg began his Grand Prix career in 2006 with Williams, who he raced for until 2009. 2010 saw a move to Mercedes where he partnered with seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher for three seasons before becoming teammates with former childhood friend Lewis Hamilton, who would go on to be a seven-time world champion himself. Rosberg made a surprise retirement announcement immediately after winning the world title in 2016, bringing his Formula One career to a close with a total of 23 wins and 57 podiums. He was inducted into the FIA Hall of Fame in 2017, and is currently an eco-entrepreneur.
Oris
Oris released the Oris WilliamsF1 Team Nico Rosberg Limited Edition (ref. 01 635 7586 7184-Set) in 2006, the independent Swiss watch brand’s first timepiece linked to a driver. The case back features his logo, the red rotor showcases his signature, and his racing number 10 appears in blue on the dial.
IWC Schaffhausen
A year after IWC Schaffhausen entered an agreement with Mercedes, the Swiss luxury brand released the IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Edition “Nico Rosberg” alongside one for teammate Lewis Hamilton. Each edition was designed with input from each driver and limited to 250 pieces. IWC would go on to release several more Nico Rosberg edition timepieces, perhaps most notably the one-off IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition Tribute to Nico Rosberg with a boron carbide case that was made for Only Watch 2015.
